ANGEL FIRE - L.A. WEATHERLY - REVIEW

Book: Angel Fire
Author: L.A. Weatherly
Publisher. Usborne
ISBN: 9781409522010
Rating: A+

Only Willow has the power to defeat the malevolent Church of Angels - and they will stop at nothing to destroy her. However, Willow is not alone. She is with Alex, a trained Angel Killer - and her one true love. Together, they must train a new generation of Angel Killers. But as a half-angel, Willow can't help feeling like an outcast, even with Alex by her side. So when a handsome stranger with a tortured past arrives at the AK camp, Willow finds herself inextricably drawn to him.

Amazing. Beautiful. Fantastic. Thrilling. Gorgeous. Brilliant. Honestly, I could go on and on with more words to describe this book but you get the idea right. This book passed the standards; it was miles better than Angel and gave us everything we wanted. A story filled with fiery passion, shocking twists, a love made in heaven and Angels.

The first book was so frikkin amazing, entertaining, refreshing and unique, so I looked at this book and said, how on earth can you beat Angel, but clearly the answer is: ‘With FIRE’ because this book heated me up. It was definitely a Roller Coaster ride of a Thriller with a riddle-ingly unique plot and fantabulous sequel to its previous book.

The plot actually follows both Willow and Alex and Seb (a new shocker for you to discover) switching between 1st person for willow and 3rd for Alex and Seb. There is another chance to destroy the angels and they seize it firmly but throughout their journey there is deceit, love feuds, battles and certain type of Rapture.

The writing, as usual was firmly and most definitely stunning, with vivid description, so crisp and sharp in my mind, and emotions so strong and rich I felt them myself. L.A. Weatherly’s writing is most definitely unique and mixed with perfectly paced movement and the right amount of description entwined with a whimsical musical prose sprinkled with magic. It was most certainly wonderful to read and I could not, put it down, not once. It kept me up to all hours, engrossed, and now I think I may have Angel Burn. I just can’t get the book out of my head.

The plot was bloody brilliant. I fused everything you could want. A burning desire, a triangle of love, a supernatural twist and a happy ending. You will not be able to put this book down. The plot was truly magical, though, so unique and special. Beautiful and sparkling yet it will keep your pulse pounding and you heart racing. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into the plot, and it has been constructed carefully and precisely so one chapter will leave you clueless and a few chapters later it will all slide together and you’ll be like ‘Ohhh! That’s clever’. I’m most definitely certain that the wonderful, amazing, fandabidosi plot/story accounts for the 709 pages of pure bliss, that burned their way into my mind.

The characters in this are all so unique and special, and I don’t get the vibe that L.A. Weatherly is trying to make the characters to much of this or too much of that. The characters aren’t forced. They just are, and that’s what makes them so special. There is no perfect brooding boy with a secret or some incredibly ugly or clumsy girl. Everyone is the same, on one side or another, each side with the same goal. All of the characters extremely well built up. Those who are new, well you find out pretty much everything, and those you already know, you find out more, some things that you never even expected. They are all so different in their own unique way and I have come to care for them as my own friends in my mind, whilst reading the novel, feeling sad with them or feeling happy with them, or feeling petrified with them as they jump of a building hoping for something that sort of isn’t there to land them to safety.

My favourite character is in fact a couple that didn’t really happen but I would love to see it happen in Angel Fever, but that couple is Willow and Seb. In book 1 Alex was the guy for Willow but then Seb came along and it just seems so right for the two of them. Like Alex is no longer meant to be. Also they seem better for each other as the book has taken on a new tone, which is more understanding and more mature. Almost as if the characters have grown up and moved on from the stages of first love, and are now in a serious relationship.

Overall the book cannot be summed up into any phrase, word or even amount of words because the novel is too fantastic to fully understand until you have read it but I will end this review with two words: Truly Wonderful.

HADES - ALEXANDRA ADORNETTO - REVIEW

Book: Hades
Author: Alexandra Adornetto
Publisher: ATOM
ISBN: 9781907410772
Rating: B

Bethany Church is an angel sent to Earth to keep dark forces at bay. Falling in love was never part of her mission, but the bond between Beth and her mortal boyfriend, Xavier Woods, is undeniably strong. But even Xavier’s love, and the care of her archangel siblings, Gabriel and Ivy, can’t keep Beth from being tricked into a motorcycle ride that ends up in Hell. There, the demon Jake Thorn bargains for Beth’s release back to Earth. But what he asks of her will destroy her, and quite possibly, her loved ones, as well.

Now, for the record I absolutely adored the first book in this series so I was ultra quick to grab this one and I felt it was good but not as good as the first one. The book is jam packed with action, adventure and beauty i just felt no enough happened for the amount of pages I read, but that aside it was fantastic. It love books with excess description, because it really makes you feel closer to where you are and what’s going on and this book nailed on the head.

The plot to this book was actually very surprising. There were a lot of things I wasn’t expecting, but it was nice because it kept on my feet the whole time, waiting to see what happened. The chapter always had something new, or something different to keep you fully engaged in the book and waiting for the next move.

The writing was beautiful as the first book if not more whimsical and musical. It has like a magical flow to it and it’s is just such a pleasure to read. Always wonderful and positive, destroying any negativity and it just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. This is one of those books that is lovely to curl up with in the evening.

The character are all so perfect and I  loved that. So many authors try so hard to get the characters imperfect and have some sort of flaw, that to read a book with an all perfect cast is like a breath of fresh air in the YA genre. We learnt a lot about the characters from the first book but they jut keep growing, as we learn more about them. I think that

There are a lot of twists and turns in this book and some very interesting surprises such as {spoiler} Molly becomes a part of the angel crew along with Xavier. In fact there are tones of fantastic shocks but i don’t want to let on too much.

I would have to say my favourite moment was when Beth managed to create life in the underworld. It was pretty amazing and i could picture it so vividly. Of course, because she did it she ended up getting herself a death sentance, but you know.

I have to say, this was not as good as the first book but it had a lot to live up to. I can say that it was a beautiful novel, sent from the heavens above, and I can not wait for the third book in the series.

FORBIDDEN - JANA OLIVER - REVIEW

Book: The Demon Trappers: Forbidden
Author: Jana Oliver
Publisher: PanMacmillan
ISBN: 9780330519489
Rating: A+

"Riley's beginning to think being a demon trapper isn't all it's cracked up to be. Her dad's been stolen by a necromancer, her boyfriend's gone all weird and she's getting warm and fuzzy feelings for someone who's seriously bad news. It's tempting to give it all up and try to be normal, but that's not an option. Because the demons have plans for Riley. And they're not the only ones."

The first book in this series was amazing so when this one popped through the letterbox I was all to happy to crack on read it, and within hours it was fin. Oh my God! It was so good! It had everything you wanted, jam packed with action and Paranormal romance, and had so many twists I was not expecting. I adore this series to the core, and I can not wait for Forgiven.

For starters this book was written fantastically, just like the first in the series. The writing is just so smooth and easygoing, yet so strong and gives you all the information you need. Emotionally the writing is fantastic, because you feel absolutely everything that the characters feel, and the description is brilliant. Also the writing sets the mood for the chapter very well and it is just the right pace, making this a action packed, thrill ride filled with demons and angels and a twisted kind of love.

Actually the love square was the craziest thing ever. I mean totally caught me of guard but I loved it! I just feel for Riley, now she's all alone, but she can date me if she needs someone. ;) I mean I never Simon would turn on her like that and then Ori, who you think the whole time is the good guy {SPOILER}(who Riley even loses her virginity to){SPOLER END} turns out to be working for hell. And the exploitation of Riley's fathers deal with hell. Oh wow, it was so good. It was bang on spot with what I needed to start reading again, after I recently read a particularly bad book.

The Plot was fantastic. I remember at one point thinking, not much is happening... yet I STILL LOVE IT! Honestly you will hear that phrase a lot in this review. It was definitely a winding path. I remember on my last review Jana Oliver commented with 'And there are more twists and turns' but boy I was not expecting any of that. It was epic, to be honest and I don't know how Oliver will top it with Forgive, but she will, just like she did with Forbidden.

In this books my favorite character has wavered a lot. As soon as I realized what a evil pixie Simon was being he was gone and Ori sort of was until I realized he was trying deceive Riley but I suppose to would have to be Mort. I just though he was such a nice guy. He was so laid back and giving, helping Riley when he was risking himself and we all need someone like that. The good thing was though, that all the characters have nice good foundation, so there is nothing to question.

Well Done, Jana Oliver, you have succeeded in creating an amazing sequel, and one again a book that I loved, adored, devoured... whatever. It was so good, please just tell me Forgiven isn't long off. Oh, and also, for Forgiven, hence the name, I'm taking it either Riley forgives Simon, or Simon forgives Riley (although she did nothing), Beck forgives Riley or all? *Desperately* I need Forgiven!

Passion - Lauren Kate - Review

Book: Passion
Author: Lauren Kate
publisher: Doubleday
ISBN: 9780385618083
Rating: A+

This is the third book in the incredible "Fallen" series. Before Luce and Daniel met at Sword & Cross, before they fought the Immortals, they had already lived many lives. And so Luce, desperate to unlock the curse that condemns their love, must revisit her past incarnations in order to understand her fate. Each century, each life, holds a different clue. But Daniel is chasing her throughout the centuries before she has a chance to rewrite history. How many deaths can one true love endure? And can Luce and Daniel unlock their past in order to change their future?

Lauren Kate is one fantastic author. Is it just me or do her books just get better and better as she writes them. So what I’m trying to say is that this book swept me of my feet. I suppose it could be called a sprequel. It’s a mix between a Prequel and a Sequel, and it picks up exactly where torment left off, although I personally think it has the possibility to be a standalone book. It basically follows Luce, travelling through announcers, piecing together her past, trying to break the curse and boy it is amazing.

I don’t get how she does it, but Lauren Kate has such a way of describing things. It’s so crisp and clear and I just loved it. I remember reading the first page and thinking WOW! The book follows Luce travelling through her past lives, trying to figure how to break the curse, but it also follows Daniel chasing after her, trying to find her. There were quite a few new characters in this book that we were introduced to and they were very interesting. Bill is a very interesting one, as Lauren Kate makes him feel very close to you. You regard Bill as a friend and trust him but at the end BAM. Bill is Satan. Bad Guy! OMG, although for this book it should be OMA (Oh my Angels, not Oh my God).

My favourite character would have to be Daniel. I suppose it’s because we get to know him a lot better in this book. In the others, sure he’s the love interest and all, but he’s pushed aside and Luce is centre of attention, but in this one we really get to know him. We get a feel for what he’s going through and what he has been for the past thousand years. Also in this book his personality changes. It’s very much desperate in this one, and also slightly more honest. I think that Luce has also changed in this one. She is much more confident with herself and uses the magic more.

This book wasn’t like the others in the sense it had way more action. The other books were ‘Build up books’ where they built up to the climax, generally a fight, but this had no build up because it had pure action in every single chapter, and it kept me going. It kept me thrilled and engaged the whole time.

The plot is very well thought out, and I have to say I love books where the country changes a lot. I love all the description of different countries and their many cultures, and how they are all portrayed so uniquely and differently. The description for all the different countries was so amazing I think people could tick them of their travel list. I have to admit my favourite place was Prussia.

My favorite scene would have to be either the scene where Bill reveals himself as the bad guy or the scene where Daniel throws himself of the cliff. I think the scene where Daniel tries to kill himself is a really emotion filled scene, and it’s really made me feel sorry for Daniel.

The writing was beautiful. This book was sent from the heavens above. The way Lauren Kate writes is so beautiful, and so... so perfect I just loved it. I have to admit I whizzed through the book. It was an awesome joyride, and now it is official that I want a pet announcer. The writing didn’t drag at all. It was all very balanced with dialogue and description and like I said... perfect.

This is a beautiful story burning with Passion. With love found from heaven and a curse sent from hell this will be the most magical book of the year.
