Elegy. Hmmm... Although in the end this was good I feel like this series has gone downwards, not up. Needless to say I did like book 3 and I'm going to go over everything that there really is to talk about.

So book three is the final book in the series and Amelia and Josh and Jillian yet face the same problem again. The dark still wants here, Jillian and Josh are in danger again and she must save the day. It was different from the other book yet still a little samey and although I didn't mind that one thing that did bug me is the fact Amelia doesn't learn from her mistakes but that's not really a fault with the book, come to think of it. That's just her character.

Anyway the book starts of promising and naturally this is the final book so it's all about final showdowns and it was really captivating. Hudson has definitely, within this series, shown her talent to be able to write many different genres well and the story line worked for me. I liked it, and it kept me guessing. It never got confusing or repeated itself but the amount of deaths and if I may add, unessacery deaths were overwhelming in this and sometimes I think you need to draw a line.

The setting in this shifted back to both Amelias and Joshua's hometown and it made sense, as the main plot line was focused around high bridge and bringing it down. I liked the fact that we went back to old places because it really helped us to understand the stories and the emotion behind all of the happenings and understand the light and dark better, in general.

The characters pretty much stayed the same in this which was nice. With the increase of characters in book 2 we were so busy getting know them there was no space to develop or uncovers true colours of other characters. Because the characters were pretty much the same in this we started to see peoples true colours and what they were really like. In fact we got a much better glimpse into the both Joshua and Amelia's past but more Amelia. I felt like this was really good and whilst other characters did come into play it was primarily based back onto Amelia, Josh and Jillian like in book 1 which leas back to my point of growing our knowledge bases on the characters so we ca really connect with them.

As usual Hudson's writing was a dream to read. Description flowed as did the story but what really stuck out to me was her world building. In this book there was a lot more of inter world interaction and they way she used words to craft these worlds in my mind was just perfection. I loved the way she formed the rooms of hell in high bridge and I would've loved to see more of the light worlds but from what she wrote I fell in love with the different places. Hudson had a knack for description, especially with places.

Overall this was the perfect end to this series. Well the ending, I'm not sure if that's how I would have done it, but however it was a beautiful and magical ending and this series had left me speechless. I'll definitely be coming back to it in the future.

So I've been sitting on this review for a while now and I've come to the conclusion that I'm not sure how I feel about this. It was good overall but I guess it just wasn't as good as book 1 and some parts dragged. That's all. Aside from those two points I really did like this book and I definitely captivated me.

I'm gonna start off by talking about the setting. This was primarily set in New Orleans and New Orleans is somewhat of a sticky subject for me. Apart from interview with a vampire new orleans has always disappointed me with literature and sometimes it can be taken a bit too far but I was willing to see what hudson would do with it and she nailed it. Maybe it was her descriptive text but I saw New Orleans in a whole new light and I can honestly say it provided the perfect location for Arise.

The story had a killer storyline. So much happened in this novel and so much of it was so interesting I could barely peel my eyes away. And the twists and turns in this were relentless! The shocks and surprises were amazing and I felt like this could quite easily fit into the mystery genre as well. With hidden secrets etc this really was like a jigsaw puzzle that slowly fitted together throughout the series and I loved it so much.
I also loved the introduction of Voodoo as it's not something you see loads off in YA fiction. I loved the new realm and exposure to the magic and it definitely helped the reader to understand the ins and outs of being a ghost and what and how it meant. Of course this was briefly touched on in book1 but Arise gave a better understanding that to Gabi.
As I mentioned above in some place this novel did drag a little but with a little perseverance you'll definitely get to a better parts that will throughly entertain you.

The characters in this one definitely expanded as a whole group of Joshua's family were introduced and a hidden villain. I felt like we didn't get to know Josh, Jill or Amelia any better than before because we were being introduced to all these new characters so there wasn't really any space or time for that but I really did enjoy have the new characters to spice this book up because otherwise it would have been a tad mundane. Also Josh and Amelia have fairly similar personalities so having the extra people really brought the book together and to life.

The writing, as ever, was beautiful and Hudson's descriptive style of prose really made this novel spectacular, building this incredible vision of New Orleans in my mind and the overall effect was just stunning! I'm not going to comment too much on the writing because very rarely does the quality/ style of writing change between books in a series and it didn't really change in this.

Overall I really did like this. Yes there were some bumps in the road but overall it definitely satisfied me as the second book in the series and my review for book 3 will be up shortly.

LIFE AFTER THEFT - APRILYNNE PIKE - REVIEW

Well where do I start with this. This left me speechless. I loved Pike's Wings series so when I saw this I was excited. Not only because it sounded amazing but also because it was rather different from here previous series, as all to often authors stick to the same sort of thing! This book however is absolutely perfect and I couldn't fault it.

The story follows Jeff, a boy who has moved to a new place and has started seeing a ghost. She is Kimberly the ex, queen bee of the school, hated by most, loved by some and she has a problem. She stole too much and Jeff has to return it all. Now this book had the romance factor in it too but it wasn't just thrown in there for the sake of it. It was actually very clever and worked with the overall plot really well, adding an extra charm to it. In fact the plot was fantastic! It was nicely fast paced, making it a wonderful read, whilst being very real and grounded but still exhilarating me completely. I feel like when authors go down the route of ghosts there's a couple of ways to go but this ghost story was crafted perfectly, and don't let 'ghost story' put you off because it's a completely new addition to the sub-genre.

The writing is so beautiful and I think because Pike previously wrote such a stunning series her writing really hone through in this. The way she manipulated words makes for a very whimsical and beautiful read whilst still having punch and and good hit! The way the world and characters materialise in you mind is absolutely perfect. When I was reading i didn't feel like I was reading anything at all. I felt as if it was all natural and as if I was in the book watching the story unfold. This honestly is one of the most perfectly balanced books when talking about the balance between description and dialogue, that I have read in a long time and provided a truly magical prose.

I liked the characters in this because they were all so unique and independent. All of them, say for Kim, were strong alone but stronger in Unity. Another things that struck me as good, was the fact that we got a lot of back story to all the characters. Of course the characters were well formed anyway but backstories and true colours of characters aren't usually revealed till a sequel but in this we got too see everyones history which was a really nice addition. There were a small circle of characters in it but the main were 4 characters, with semi mains characters appearing every now and then. 

Honestly the works that strikes me about this book is: Perfect. I couldn't fault, not at all. Reading this book, it was nice to see a whole new side to Pike and I think she has proved herself as an incredibly worthy author. I will most definitely be reading anything she writes and I look forward to seeing whatever she brings along next. This book was bliss to read and I would do so a thousand times.

VIXEN - JILLIAN LARKIN - REVIEW

I was a tad skeptical about this book, I thought it would be too much like Bright Young Things, but I had nothing to worry about. This book was glorious. (You'll get it once you've read it) No really, it was like 400 pages of pure bliss and excitement. It was jam packed with a thrilling story that will have you hooked from start to end.


The plot was like nothing I have read before. And although I read it in two days I felt like I had been reading it for a week because so much happened in such a limited amount of pages and I felt like I had been there in the book for the whole time that it played in my head because it was just so vivid. The story line was definitely thought about a lot and a lot of research must have been put into this novel and it didn't disappoint. That's what's good about Larkin. She hasn't gone halfway with the research, she's gone all out and written the book to perfection.


The prose was gorgeous. The writing was smoulderingly good and the essence and description of it really sent you to the musky world of flappers and exposed the true 1920's to my mind. The writing is so good, good being the climax of every other word variant of it. I don't like to use good and I set it aside for when a string of words can not describe how good something is and then I use good. Because then that means it is the best. And this novel really was the best. The writing was powerful and strong, drawing you in from the beginning and keeping you there, leeching of every word, leaving at the end wanting more.


The characters were so perfect for the book and it just had some many twists and turns, underlying layers of characters getting exposed as the book progresses. I mean trust me, there are some dramatic surprises in this novel. But what I like about the novel was that for every character there was an opposite, which kept the book nice and balanced. The character formed well in you mind and you felt very close to them. Lorraine is my favourite character. She was strong and shrewd but living in Gloria's shadow and i just felt so overwhelmed when she started to want take Gloria's perfection away from her. I couldn't help but imagine her as the Lady Gaga of the 1920's.


Overall I adored this novel with a passion! It was fantastic, beautifully written novel, full of twist turns and smouldering story just eating to be told.

ANGEL FIRE - L.A. WEATHERLY - REVIEW

Amazing. Beautiful. Fantastic. Thrilling. Gorgeous. Brilliant. Honestly, I could go on and on with more words to describe this book but you get the idea right. This book passed the standards; it was miles better than Angel and gave us everything we wanted. A story filled with fiery passion, shocking twists, a love made in heaven and Angels.

The first book was so frikkin amazing, entertaining, refreshing and unique, so I looked at this book and said, how on earth can you beat Angel, but clearly the answer is: ‘With FIRE’ because this book heated me up. It was definitely a Roller Coaster ride of a Thriller with a riddle-ingly unique plot and fantabulous sequel to its previous book.

The plot actually follows both Willow and Alex and Seb (a new shocker for you to discover) switching between 1^st person for willow and 3^rd for Alex and Seb. There is another chance to destroy the angels and they seize it firmly but throughout their journey there is deceit, love feuds, battles and certain type of Rapture.

The writing, as usual was firmly and most definitely stunning, with vivid description, so crisp and sharp in my mind, and emotions so strong and rich I felt them myself. L.A. Weatherly’s writing is most definitely unique and mixed with perfectly paced movement and the right amount of description entwined with a whimsical musical prose sprinkled with magic. It was most certainly wonderful to read and I could not, put it down, not once. It kept me up to all hours, engrossed, and now I think I may have Angel Burn. I just can’t get the book out of my head.

The plot was bloody brilliant. I fused everything you could want. A burning desire, a triangle of love, a supernatural twist and a happy ending. You will not be able to put this book down. The plot was truly magical, though, so unique and special. Beautiful and sparkling yet it will keep your pulse pounding and you heart racing. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into the plot, and it has been constructed carefully and precisely so one chapter will leave you clueless and a few chapters later it will all slide together and you’ll be like ‘Ohhh! That’s clever’. I’m most definitely certain that the wonderful, amazing, fandabidosi plot/story accounts for the 709 pages of pure bliss, that burned their way into my mind.

The characters in this are all so unique and special, and I don’t get the vibe that L.A. Weatherly is trying to make the characters to much of this or too much of that. The characters aren’t forced. They just are, and that’s what makes them so special. There is no perfect brooding boy with a secret or some incredibly ugly or clumsy girl. Everyone is the same, on one side or another, each side with the same goal. All of the characters extremely well built up. Those who are new, well you find out pretty much everything, and those you already know, you find out more, some things that you never even expected. They are all so different in their own unique way and I have come to care for them as my own friends in my mind, whilst reading the novel, feeling sad with them or feeling happy with them, or feeling petrified with them as they jump of a building hoping for something that sort of isn’t there to land them to safety.

My favourite character is in fact a couple that didn’t really happen but I would love to see it happen in Angel Fever, but that couple is Willow and Seb. In book 1 Alex was the guy for Willow but then Seb came along and it just seems so right for the two of them. Like Alex is no longer meant to be. Also they seem better for each other as the book has taken on a new tone, which is more understanding and more mature. Almost as if the characters have grown up and moved on from the stages of first love, and are now in a serious relationship.

Overall the book cannot be summed up into any phrase, word or even amount of words because the novel is too fantastic to fully understand until you have read it but I will end this review with two words: Truly Wonderful. 

SWEETLY - JACKSON PEARCE - REVIEW

I read sisters red by Jackson Pearce last summer and instantly fell in love with the magical world that she had created. It was so brilliantly fantastic that when I heard about Sweetly I got it as quick as I could.

I loved how Jackson Pearce used the basis of Red Riding Hood to create a beautiful tale and when I heard that Sweetly was a Mix of Hansel and Gretel with her unique magical world I was both thrilled that she was following her theme of fairy tales and to see what she had in store.

I adore Jackson Pearce’s writing. It’s so descriptive and rich and what better way to put that to full use than with a chocolate shop. The writing was so full and luxurious, and most definitely a pleasure to read. The prose is truly full of sparkle.

The plot was so totally unique just as Sisters Red. It was obviously thought out in detail and was not easy to plan as it was a nice complex plot, though extremely easy to follow throughout the whole of the amazing novel.

The characters are all special to themselves in various ways and all built up well so you feel for them very closely and understand them as your friends. I know I felt very close to the characters, and you automatically felt certain feeling for certain characters. My favourite would have to be Sophia. She was so sweet and innocent and she just wanted to save her sister and she would do anything for that.

I think if you break the story away there is a core moral, and it is: Love your family because if they go you’ll regret every bad thing you did. The book had many significant and great moments but my favourite was incredibly sad and made me ache inside. It was when Sophia was shot because she sacrificed herself to join her sister.

Overall the book was a wonderful beautiful tale filled with magic that will warm your heart. It may have sad bits but it is truly a wonderful novel and I honestly loved every letter down to the last word. It is really beautiful.

HADES - ALEXANDRA ADORNETTO - REVIEW

Now, for the record I absolutely adored the first book in this series so I was ultra quick to grab this one and I felt it was good but not as good as the first one. The book is jam packed with action, adventure and beauty i just felt no enough happened for the amount of pages I read, but that aside it was fantastic. It love books with excess description, because it really makes you feel closer to where you are and what’s going on and this book nailed on the head.

The plot to this book was actually very surprising. There were a lot of things I wasn’t expecting, but it was nice because it kept on my feet the whole time, waiting to see what happened. The chapter always had something new, or something different to keep you fully engaged in the book and waiting for the next move.

The writing was beautiful as the first book if not more whimsical and musical. It has like a magical flow to it and it’s is just such a pleasure to read. Always wonderful and positive, destroying any negativity and it just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. This is one of those books that is lovely to curl up with in the evening.

The character are all so perfect and I  loved that. So many authors try so hard to get the characters imperfect and have some sort of flaw, that to read a book with an all perfect cast is like a breath of fresh air in the YA genre. We learnt a lot about the characters from the first book but they jut keep growing, as we learn more about them. I think that

There are a lot of twists and turns in this book and some very interesting surprises such as {spoiler} Molly becomes a part of the angel crew along with Xavier. In fact there are tones of fantastic shocks but i don’t want to let on too much.

I would have to say my favourite moment was when Beth managed to create life in the underworld. It was pretty amazing and i could picture it so vividly. Of course, because she did it she ended up getting herself a death sentance, but you know.

I have to say, this was not as good as the first book but it had a lot to live up to. I can say that it was a beautiful novel, sent from the heavens above, and I can not wait for the third book in the series.

AFTER OBSESSION - CARRIE JONES & STEVE WEDEL - REVIEW

Now I’ve read and love every single one of Carrie Jones’s books in the Need series so far and loved every single one of them, so when I heard about After Obsession I just couldn't wait to get it! One thing I have noticed about Carrie Jones though, is that she it amazingly unique. All her books and ideas are totally unique.

Now this book is so amazing, because Carrie Jones has written it in such a way that I can I read it before bed and not slap it down, pull the covers over my head and stay to frightened to get out and go to the toilet. I mean I’ve always loved Carrie’s writing, being some musical and light, and I think Steve Wedel’s writing in this novel created the perfect contrast with a edgier, boyish tone to it.

The storyline itself was interesting. It’s generally the main character that is being haunted, or whatnot, yet in this book it was the main characters who were on the other end of the haunted, or in this case possessed. The storyline was really good, and for a short book it had a lot crammed into it!

All the characters were so close to you in the book, along with the River Man who wanted to tear to pieces when you weren’t completely scared of him, but I have to admit my favorite was Aimee. She was just awesome, smart, funny, and typically pretty, and she also instantly reminded me of Ariana Grande.

This book is definitely one of a kind, filled with romance and horrowr and pair that works as well as Aimee and Alan and I really, really, enjoyed this!

FORGIVE MY FINS - TERA LYNN CHILDS - REVIEW

Forgive my Fins is full of fantastic fishy phrases, humor and cliches but was generally a really nice funny book, that kept you pretty much interested the whole way through.

The plot was basic love triangle, girl crush story which everyone could see where it was going except for the Lily, the character, bur it was still a nice fun plot with cheesy moments. The writing was fantastic. In fact I really did like the blunt style, which didn't drone on about other things.

It's definitely a super feel good book, and could bring anyone up when they are down. It's also Uber fun and you will honestly find yourself cracking up at some of the conversations in this, although I would say this is for younger YA readers.

My favorite character is most definitely Lily, only because of the whole mermaid factor. I am a sucker for mermaids, and did love H2O just add water and did spend a couple of months after reading underwater and mermaid stories for a while and honestly this book would have nailed it.

This is a short, lovely, bubbly reads to keep head delved into the waters of this fun, cheesy, novel.

LOTTIE BIGGS IS NOT TRAGIC - HAYLEY LONG - REVIEW

But things don't go to plan, and Lottie starts to realise she might have been a bit me me me lately...a female emo, obviously The wit of Louise Rennison meets the depth of Jacqueline Wilson."

Now I haven’t read the other two books in this series but this was easy to figure out and I didn’t have to read the other to get this. Now this is a really fun book, filled with loads of laughs and loads of philosophy. It has tons of Ridonkulus pictures and in general is a light, quick and entertaining book.
It’s written in first person as Lottie and is generally really easygoing and just how she feels, what’s going on the rest. It sort of like a diary but it’s not a diary. It’s just a really fun book of the day to day life of a Welsh girl that has somehow been made incredibley interesting. The writing if Funny, Quirky and how someone of that age would write.
The plot is simple and fun and just keeps you going, but it’s a really happy book and leaves you so refreshed and just so happy once you have read it. The characters are all so funny and uplifiting. I mean Gareth come along as a total oddball and gave me a fair few laughs and Goose, well she’s quit something.
I really did like this book. It’s a funny, happy, upliftingly hilarious book that most definitely kept me entertained.

I was slightly skeptical when reading this because it had a booming pink cover but surprisingly it’s for all genders and I really enjoyed it. It’s actually a fast paced, fantasy-romance, that isn’t the typical YA fantasy-romance.

The book covers many important things such as First Love, BiPolar and living on your own in your teenage years. It’s actually really good, and also has quite a bit of Greek Mythology which I’m always up for. The book follows Alice, daughter of the Queen of Romance, who has BiPolar (not Alice, her mum), but nobody knows, so Alice is getting letters from the publishers until one of the letters has something very... interesting in it. Then things get complicated, and a love triangle is formed.

The book is written well, and i found it a nice quick read that I whizzed through despite the size. Also it’s one of those books where you just want to keep on reading on and on even though your mum is shouting for you to come for dinner. The plot was extremely clever. I have to admit you read half of the book and you think you know the storyline as a basic love triangle story but suddenly! Somethings get twisted and you’re hit with intense shock and suspense.

There weren’t many characters in this book but I think it worked because the characters got built up really well and strong as it was the same people over again. Also it made you feel all that closer to them and much more satisfied.

Now trust me, I love books, so when you get a book about books I get eepish (very exited) so I was very eepish when I realised this was a book about books (sort of). The book was very good, I liked it a lot, and the Magical twist with Cupid, was very nice. I was all smooth and nicely flowing and I just felt it was lovely to read.

Entice is one of those books, that as soon as you read it, strikes you as amazing. I absolutely love this series. It was just by fluke I picked up 'Need' because it had a pretty cover but I'm glad I did. This is the third book in the amazing series, and I suppose I really did like it except for a small issue I had.

In this third book it literally picks up from the last book and it's all about getting to Valaha. Surprisingly Betty doesn't care that Zara is a Pixie and it's all go to find Nick! This book literally is just and action packed bridge between Captivate and the fourth and final book on the saga, that mainly zones in on the growing chemistry between Zara and Astley.

This book , I really did enjoy it, but i felt it kind of lacked... or dragged. I suppose it just wasn't really needed. It sort of left you waiting for something to happen, which it doesn't untill about halfway through the book, though when the stuff does happen it's brilliant. The action is intense and epic and it's romantic in flurries of snow...

I absolutely love Carrie Jones's writing. It so lite if you get me. For such a Paranormal book, it's not heavy, or gothic, or even a big read for that matter, and i've always found this a really nice series to read when i'm just in the mood for something less heavy. This book had the same beautifully written prose that kept me enticed the whole way through. The plot was wavy slightly but it still worked.

The Characters have all grown up. Issie and Devyn are all sorted, and we see a lot more of Cassidy in this one, but i feel that Zara really matured in this one and really kicked-ass. I mean this is a brilliant, kick-ass book! I suppose we really got to see and know Astley though and that was really good, so I'd say he was my fave Character because he loved Zara but he wanted her to be happy so he just let her go search for Nick and he helped her all the way.

This was a enticing novel that captivated me and has left me needing the last one.

I cannot express in words how much I loved this book. This is definitely what a last book should be like. I can honestly say this book kept me thrilled and going till the very end, and it had everything I wanted. Love, Magic, Immortals, Reuniting and a very surprising twist, especially at the end. I was so looking forward to this book and it was fantastic. Some people quibbled about the ending but I think it was perfect. Definitely the best book in the series and a brilliant way to finish it.

The Plot literally picks up where Night Star left off, with Ever and Damen, by the Lady in the Mud. But Basically the plot follows Ever as she discovers why she and Damen have the Universe working against them and takes a journey to relieve them of their bad Karma and a journey to the tree of life. She succeeds and brings back the fruit and then...

The plot was so bloody immense; I was gripped from the first page. I felt everyone played a big and fun part in the whole book and everyone was stretched out to their full potential. The story line was complex but not hard to follow. Everything was orderly, one after the other and not all going on at the same time. It was filled with Magic, Mystery and Lurrrv! I have to admit there are many surprises and many normal things that we have been waiting for to happen that do finally happen in the Last Book. Oh, and by the way, if anyone doesn’t like this book they must be insane, because It was amazing!

The Writing in this book was as good as ever. Noel keeps and nice consistent flow with a balance of description, dialogue and thought, though I this book edged slightly towards the Description side of the triangle which worked well as they was a lot to describe. As usual Noel’s writing in beautiful! It kept me interested and following the whole time, and I have to confess I stayed up a lot later than I should have reading this amazing novel.

I felt closeness to Ever in this book but so many other characters were introduced. I mean Damen was Alrik before he was reincarnated as Damen and Ever was Adelina. And Lotus! How could we forget her? I mean she was the one who started this whole thing right? Without her none of this would have happened. I felt she was pretty cool and I like reading about her past. Also Haven makes a Return along with Drina and Roman who all apologize to Ever! I think my favourite characters were Ever and Lotus. Lotus just for her total awesomeness and a cool name and Ever because in this book she really exposes her past and for once doesn’t doubt Damen in any way.

I was so surprised when both Ever and Damen turned Human! I mean eating the fruit from the tree and becoming Human! I also loved it where Ever Confessed to Sabine everything, because Sabine kept her cool and looked all disbelieving when in her head she was probably screaming : “Oh my God! This is so fricking awesome!” Finally, It was definitely coming, but they finally did it! And then... Happily ever After!

This book is amazing and I love it so much. It thrilled me to the core, and All I can say after that is, Epic, Epic, Amazing, Immense, Intense, Immortal filled book. Oh an also, the cover is totally awesomely cool! Check out some pics below, and click on them for larger view.
